We invite you to view here the art exhibition “Berlin, always modern and sexy”, which took place from March 1 to April 30, 2015 in Berlin at Weinhaus und Kunstgalerie GRUSIGNAC at Prenzlauer Allee 191, 10405 Berlin. These works show a different view of the German capital through the lens of photographer and artist Boris Merzlyakov (MORIS), who combined architectural photography and painting to create a new, original dialogue between art and the city.
Berlin is a city that always impresses with its modernity and exciting atmosphere. Everyone perceives it in their own way: for some it is a symbol of the Cold War and the Berlin Wall; for others, it is the capital of a progressive European state, a place of club recreation and modern art. However, in my opinion, Berlin has its own unique romance that cannot be found in any other city in Europe.
Berlin is an important center for artistic and cultural figures from all over the world. The historical richness of the city, its modern and progressive life, freedom and diversity of architecture have become known far beyond the borders of Germany.
At this exhibition, Borys Merzlyakov (MORIS) offers viewers a glimpse into another Berlin — the one that leaves invisible traces, the one that tourists don’t see. This is a city that becomes the last hope for some, and a place that breaks destinies for others.
At the exhibition, the artist pays special attention to the image of a woman — a figure that always remains beautiful, despite historical difficulties. Women who survived World War II became the generation that rebuilt Germany, cleaning up the ruins and picking up broken dreams.
Berlin, as a territory of freedom that emerged after the fall of the Wall, is a place without censorship, where a powerful creative cluster is developing. Many artists live and work here, who are able to convey the spirit of modernity and freedom in their works.
